My approach to healing and growth.
Narrative therapy is an approach to counseling that begins with the premise that you are not the problem; the problem is the problem. The way we see ourselves can be defined by the language that we use. Far too often, we confuse what we do with who we are. Are you an angry person, or a person who sometimes gets angry? Are you an alcoholic, or a person who misuses alcohol?
In other words, the language that we use—our narrative—can constrict us into a narrow view of who we are.
As we begin this collaborative journey, I see my role as a co-author, helping you develop an alternate—yet perhaps truer—personal history so that you may move forward with courage and confidence. My approach does not focus on problems or pathologies but on strengths.
